Celebration of Life for Myrtis McCord
Friday, November 18, 2022
2:00 PM Central Time
WHAT TO EXPECT
Gretchen and Dominick will host the in-person gathering, and the virtual side will be managed by the wonderful women at Holding Space Events.
After a eulogy, we will invite our guests, whether attending in-person or virtually, to share anything about Myrtis that you’d like, both laughs and tears: stories, memories, thoughts; a poem or other reading; or simply a toast.
WHAT TO BRING
Please be prepared to toast to Myrtis! She and Joe loved a good gin martini for special occasions and Grasshoppers on Christmas Eve, and Myrtis’s favorite for ordinary evenings was gin & tonic. All three will be available at the in-person event, along with sparkling wine and other adult and non-alcoholic beverages. With apologies, if you are attending virtually, you’ll have to provide your own.
As you know, Myrtis loved children and children’s books! Until shortly before her death, continued to buy children’s books as gifts. If you would care to bring (or send to Gretchen) a favorite children’s book, we will donate them in memoriam to the Milam County CPS Board, to whom Myrtis gifted many books.
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS
Please consider a donation in Myrtis’s name to one of the organizations she supported:
Appreciating, respecting, and conserving nature was very important to Myrtis (and Joe). One reason we picked Holding Space Events to host the virtual part of our celebration is because they share that value. They will plant a tree in Myrtis’s honor through the amazing organization One Tree Planted, whose mission is to restore forests, create habitat for biodiversity, and make a positive social impact around the world – and to make it simple for anyone to be a part of that. Myrtis (and Joe) will be very happy, and honored!
